A naturopathic oncologist is a naturopathic physician, board certified in naturopathic oncology, and focused on the treatment of people with cancer using the core of naturopathic medicine, our precepts and unique treatment approaches. Naturopathic medicine is guided by 6 fundamental principles of care. By following such principles, establishment of a trusted doctor-patient relationship is possible. Understanding the whole person is just as critical for achieving wellness goals as it is in treating the person during active oncology treatment.

When the skilled physician is able to create the appropriate treatment-amalgam for their patient, naturopathic medicine can be an extremely powerful tool in the fight against cancer. Modalities can include:

  • Anti-cancer treatments
  • Homeopathic therapeutics
  • Nutrition
  • Botanical medicine
  • IV therapy
  • Traditional Chinese Medicine
  • Care of the physical frame
  • Mind-body medicine
  • Vitamins and Supplements

At Naturopathic Specialists, we know how important quality of life is when someone is fighting or recovering from cancer. Side effects are prevalent whether someone is actively taking a medication or has taken one in the past. Furthermore, cancer, the disease itself, can produce its own set of debilitating side effects. Naturopathic oncology is particularly effective when using drugless therapies, since many times pharmaceuticals also produce their own set of side effects.

At Naturopathic Specialists, we take quality of life seriously and have a whole suite of therapy options to help people achieve their goals such as building strength, ability to exercise, improving appetite, and the ability to be with their loved ones or attend a family event. At Naturopathic Specialists we realize that one’s life is filled with so much more than just going through treatment.

The world of integrative oncology is expanding and many people find that this is the best route for them, that is, they are interested in the “co-management” approach. Co-management means that the patient’s naturopathic physicians, allopathic/conventional physicians and other physicians or allied health practitioners work in concert for the best interest of the patient. That the practitioners communicate with each other and plan together with the patient, the steps necessary to achieve the best results.  Naturopathic Specialists offers an integrative approach to the person with cancer and our physicians are experts at helping you achieve a safe and effective combination of natural therapies with conventional treatments, reduced side effects as well as restored health and vitality after completion of cancer treatments. However our clinic also has programs for those that cannot tolerate conventional therapy, those for which conventional therapy has failed them and certainly for those that have chosen not to undergo any conventional therapy.

Dr. Rubin explains naturopathic oncology

Survivorship is as important to us at Naturopathic Specialists as is treatment for an active cancer. We take survivorship seriously and are experts at helping to create treatment plans and protocols aimed at reducing the risk of recurrence of someone’s cancer as well as helping people regain their health and functionality so they can continue on with their life after their active anti-cancer treatments.
